RECAP
The UC Davis wrestling team won its first dual match of the season Friday night by defeating San Francisco State, 32-16, at Hickey Gymnasium... It marked the 11th consecutive victory the Aggies have claimed over the Gators dating back to the 1997-98 season... Both of SF State's victories came by a combined three points.

Sophomore Drew Maraglia and redshirt freshman Abe Otrambo claimed technical falls in their respective weight classes... Maraglia won his match at 157 pounds, 19-3, behind five nearfalls... Otrambo rebounded after giving up an early take down in his 184-pound match, and reeled off 19 consecutive points to earn his first collegiate victory, 19-2.

Fellow redshirt freshman Barrett Abel scored a major decision at 149 pounds by a 12-1 score... Sophomore Kyle Dubs earned six points at 165 pounds for a win by forfeit and now sits in a tie with Abel for the team lead with nine dual points... Sophomore Jeff Prentice earned his first victory of the season at 174 pounds with a 6-4 decision in sudden victory.

UTAH VALLEY STATE PREVIEW
The Aggies will host Utah Valley State in their third dual of the season at Hickey Gymnasium Saturday night at 7 p.m.... This marks the second consecutive season these two teams will meet... UC Davis defeated the Wolverines last season, 36-12, in Orem, Utah... Sophomore Alex Darkhovsky (165) and junior transfer Ryan Silvera (197) are expected to get their first starts of the season on Saturday.

This is the fourth dual competition for the Wolverines this season... They went 3-1 at the Jack Hancock Duals last month with dominate wins over the Colorado School of Mines, Newman University and the Air Force prep squad... Their only loss came to Pacific-10 member Oregon State, 22-13... Utah Valley State was last in action two weeks ago at the Las Vegas Invitational... Redshirt freshman Ben Kjar was the only Wolverine to make the second day... He lost his opening match to the eventual fifth-place finisher.

HEAD COACH Lennie Zalesky
On SF State Dual: "Drew (Maraglia) and Abe (Otrambo) really showed what they could do. I thought they wrestled extremely well. Overall, I think the entire team wrestled well, I just thought we could've done a few technical things better. We're starting to get depth on this team and it's good to see our younger guys step up and do well."

On Utah Valley State Dual: "They have a very good 125-pounder. That will be the match of the night. I don't know a lot about them as a team, but they have several guys who did very well at the Las Vegas Invite a couple weeks ago. They'll challenge us at several different weights. We want to use these early duals to our advantage before the Pac-10 duals begin. We never schedule duals against teams that are too far below us. We like to challenge ourselves and we'll do that on Saturday."
